The first step to playing PS2 games on a PC is to download a PS2 emulator, namely PCSX2. Downloading this emulator is very easy, just visit https://pcsx2.net/ then look for the “Download Get PCSX2 here” button. Select the OS you are using, then you just need to download the application.
2. Install PCSX2 on Your PC
After you open the program that you have downloaded, there will be two options: “Normal Installation” and “Portable Installation”. Please select Normal Installation and click Next until you find a configuration like the following image:
In this configuration, please click PAD and select the controller you want to use to play. You can use the keyboard or joystick. Please click Next and proceed to the BIOS configuration.
After configuring the controller, then you have to download the PCSX2 BIOS first. You can download the iso file at https://consolegames.down10.software/bios/pcsx2-playstation-2-bios-3.
Extract the file and move it to the C:\Documents\PCSX2\bios folder. Click “Refresh List” and the PCSX2 will automatically detects the BIOS that you have placed in that folder. If it is loaded, please select BIOS USA then click Finish.
3. Insert Game ISO File
After you configure the BIOS, the next step is to input the ISO file or game file you want to play. If you don’t have it, please download it first. You can download game ISO files at CoolRom.com or other websites that provide game ISO files.
After downloading the ISO file, you can then input the file into PCSX2. Please click CDVD > Select ISO Selector > Browse and select the ISO that you downloaded earlier.
After that, please select System > Select Boot/Reboot CDV (full). The PCSX2 emulator will load the ISO and you can start playing the game.
4. Emulator Settings
In order for the game to be smoother and less sluggish, you should optimize the settings in PCSX2. This setting depends on the specifications of the Laptop or PC you are using. To make settings, please open the Config > Select Emulation Settings.
On the GS Windows page, you can select the screen ratio you want to use. If you don’t want to be disturbed by the appearance of other software, you can choose a 16:9 ratio and windows size according to your laptop’s specifications. Next, please click Apply to apply the settings.
